How long will Sophie Hannah Hair last?
Sophie Hannah Hair Color is semi permanent and will fade with washing. Not everyone will achieve the same results due to a number of factors such as:

The shampoo you use: Shampoo with sulphates can strip the colour out of your hair more quickly than a sulphate-free shampoo. We’d always recommend washing your hair with a sulphate-free, colour preserving shampoo.

Starting hair level: bleached hair retains colour longer than unprocessed hair

Hair porosity: extremely porous hair may require additional colour applications
How often you wash your hair: Semi-Permanent Hair Dye will fade gradually as you wash your hair, so if you wash it less it’s going to last longer

Sun: the sun will fade colour so try to limit exposure.

Heat is a contributing factor in your hair colour fading. Try to space out your heat styling days or maybe even opt for a heatless way of styling your hair like braids or overnight curls.

Another big factor is the starting health of your hair prior to colouring with SHH. The more dry or damaged your hair is the more the colour will take because of the cuticle being more open than healthy hair.

Due to the several factors listed above we cannot give you a specific time frame on how long your colour will last.

How can I achieve the best colour pay off?
Our dyes will offer the best performance on blonde hair Level 9 to 10 (blonde and light blonde).

Directions for use: Apply Sophie Hannah Hair semi-permanent hair colour to clean, dry hair. Leave on for 20 minutes, the longer the time the more vibrant the colour. Rinse thoroughly with cool to lukewarm water. Dry, style hair as desired!

The intensity and permanence of the colour depends on the porosity and health of the hair as well as daily maintenance. To ensure the colour lasts as long as possible follow our top tips!

Opt for dry shampoo between washes and wait as long as you can before the first wash, this helps to keeps the colour locked into the hair for an extended period of time,

- Use a sulfate-free (SLS and SLES free) shampoo to cleanse. Sulfate containing shampoo can quicken the colour fade process. Although great cleansers, these ingredients are known to strip the hair of its natural oils, lustre and colour.

- Rinse the hair with cool water instead of hot water as hot water increases the rate of colour fading

- Avoid heat styling tools where possible, apply a heat protectant before heat styling your coloured hair and opt for lower temperatures.

- You can also use SHH colours as a hair mask to keep hair colour vibrant and hair nourished. Apply on damp hair and leave for a minimum of 5 minutes.

How do I know what colour my hair will turn out like?
We have included a Colour Chart of our dyes showing you the likely results based on your hair’s starting colour. As everyone’s hair is different, we recommend doing a strand test to see the result of the colour before full application. We also recommend doing a patch test to confirm you're not allergic.

What is a patch test?
A patch test is a preliminary test to be conducted before the product is applied to the hair and scalp.

To perform a patch test:

Select a small test area of the skin behind the ear.

Wash the test area with a mild cleanser and water and pat dry.

Ensure the test area is clean and dry before applying the product.

Using a cotton bud, apply a pea size amount of hair colour in a thin layer to the test area and let it dry.

Leave the test area uncovered and undisturbed for 24 hours.

Examine the test area carefully for any signs of redness or irritation, if irritation occurs, then discontinue use of the product.

I've seen alcohols listed on SHH products. Will they dry out my hair?
“Alcohol” is the chemical name for an organic compound that carries at least one hydroxyl (−OH) functional group bound to a saturated carbon atom. Alcohol has many forms — some that have the potential to dry out skin and hair and others that can aid in conditioning the skin and hair.

Cetearyl Alcohol and Benzyl Alcohol are two alcohols found in the formula.

Cetearyl Alcohol (vegetable derived) is a waxy white solid that aids to stabilise the emulsion, add richness to the formula and also conditions the hair. Benzyl alcohol is a preservative used to maintain the shelf life of the product and inhibit microbial growth.

What is the shelf life of SHH products?
The shelf life of our products is 12 month from the period after opening.

Are your products vegan?
