5 Tips On How To Make Your Colour Last Longer

5 Tips On How To Make Your Colour Last Longer

Don’t you just hate it when you’ve just washed your freshly dyed, vibrant hair and it fades instantly. We hate that too! That’s why we added Hydrolysed Quinoa into our Semi-Permanent Hair Dye formula. Hydrolyzed quinoa is a 100% natural ingredient and it’s excellent for hair care. It increases hair dye uptake and reduces hair dye wash-out. This ingredient was super important to our formula because we didn’t want you to feel like you’d lost your fabulous hair colour after the first wash.

That’s one reason your hair colour is going to last longer. But we’ve also put together some of our top tips that you can follow that’s also going to help the longevity of your colour.

1. AVOID WASHING YOUR HAIR TOO OFTEN

Now it might be obvious but wash your hair less! Semi-Permanent Hair Dye will fade gradually as you wash your hair, so if you wash it less it’s going to last longer. Because our Semi-Permanent Hair Dye is super conditioning you won’t need to wash the colour out of your hair straight after dying it.

2. NO MORE HOT WATER

Now we love a hot shower too, but hot water with your freshly dyed hair is something you want to avoid. Hot water opens your cuticle and the longer that’s open the more your hair is going to fade. Wash your hair with cool to lukewarm water and it’s going to lock that colour in.

3. AVOID SULPHATE

Shampoo with sulphates can strip the color out of your hair more quickly than a sulphate-free shampoo. We’d always recommend washing your hair with a sulphate-free, colour preserving shampoo.

4. LOWER THE HEAT

We all know heat is damaging to the hair, but did you know it can also fade your colour quickly. Try to space out your heat styling days or maybe even opt for a heatless way of styling your hair like braids or overnight curls. You could also try air drying your hair here and there. If you do use heat though, try to find a heated tool with heat options so you can use the lowest setting and always use an oil or heat protect product. This will create a barrier over your hair and help keep that colour locked.

5. KEEP YOUR HAIR OUTTA THE SUN

Sun exposure will fade your colour. Now it’s pretty impossible to keep out of the sunlight, especially if you’re on holiday. So we recommend a hat or hair scarf - which you can obviously style in a cute way - and this will protect your colour from the sun. Or find a hair product with SPF - sunscreen but for your hair.
